An Iconic Angular Home with Timeless Attraction

The Modern Family Residence took its form as a direct response to its context. The geometrical shift in plan opened the house to the afternoon sun, screened the garden from the neighboring house, and incorporated an existing grove of trees. This now iconic home is featured on the hit ABC Series, Modern Family.

The collision of the angular and the orthogonal is reverberated throughout the project, and is manifested in details such as the repeated triangular skylights, trapezoidal bathtub, and the angled step risers.

The swimming pool is a design element essential to the house. A strong sense of indoor-outdoor interaction is expressed with large doors that open up to the edge of the pool.
